KEELA Munro Jacket

I bought a Keela Munro jacket from you back in November while we were up in Ambleside...

The jacket is superb! I have worn it regularly over the past couple of months, including a recent skiing holiday in Austria with weather ranging from hot, through wind, rain and sleet right up to a complete white out up on the mountain.
The underarm ventilation is great for the hot and warm weather but seals totally waterproof and draft free when the going gets bad. It may be slightly on the heavy side but considering how much has gone into it, storm flaps, pockets, snow skirt, warm pockets etc its a reasonable trade off. I particularly like the hood design, which stays just where you want it without feeling like you've suddenly put blinkers on the moment you put the hood up.

It's early days but the fabric appears to be extremely hard wearing, it has shown no evidence of marking even when carrying skis on my shoulder each day for a week. Even in blizzard conditions it was warm enough for me to get by with just a base layer and micro fleece worn under it. It has a great 'snug' feeling when everything is zipped up and the storm flaps are all fastened - like a cocoon that even the worst weather cannot penetrate. As you can probably guess, I am over the moon with it and would recommend one to anybody. (You could definately pay a lot more money for a lot less coat) I'd not heard of Keela before visiting you, but will check out their products first next time I need something
I'll certainly be calling in to your shop next time we are up in Ambleside to see what other treasures you have hidden there.

Regards
Mike

OE Magazine:- "The Munro has a very sound pedigree, having become the jacket of choice for a number of mountain rescue teams in the UK. It's not that light as it's packed full of features, one of which is a dual protection system. Combine this with a highly wickable liner to improve breathability and you have a jacket that can be used pretty much year round unless you're in especially warm conditions. There are all the essential features you'd expect on any serious bit of mountain wear. The Munro also has a really nice fit, feels just 'right' when you're wearing it and makes an excellent option if you're after one really well specced jacket for year-round use."

Adventure Travel Magazine:- "Keela's System Dual Protection works differently to other waterproof breathable fabrics and has great wicking properties and dries amazingly fast. You get every feature you could want from a wired brim on the hood to a snowskirt. It is a little heavy but that gives it great thermal properties too. We'd be happy taking it anywhere.

In a line: Great performance for altitude trekking."

Outdoor Pursuits Magazine:- "This is a well thought out and executed principle and design that copes easily with a wide range of conditions. Even in summer rain, the integral warmth of the jacket can be offset by ventilation. In colder conditions, the jacket works exceptionally well over a base layer alone or with an insulating layer as well. Packed with features, it proved to be a versatile high performer.

Likes: Performance, versatility, durability, range of features.

Dislikes: None."

Even under a climbing harness you could use all four pockets, especially the fleece lined hand warmer ones. The draw strings were well placed to help keep your backside dry, very useful on a belay in some Glencoe gully.
