Wild swimming: What’s all the fuss about? Nothing to hold on to for more than 25m, peering into the abyss rather than following the straight black line, driftwood, weeds, cold and unpredictable water pushing you around, and what else lives in here exactly?
These are the concerns of most of us who are new to swimming in open water, and if you can handle them, you’re about to get a whole lot more enjoyment from your swimming.
Our motto at Head to the Hills is ' Lakes not Lanes' so let us introduce you to the watery world of wild swimming, gently at first then though to choosing the right time and place to swim, how to remain safe when wild swimming as well as the dark art of swimming in a straight line. If time permit's we'll also cover some pointers on developing an efficient swimming technique and how to cope while swimming in a group.

If you’re the kind of person who takes the road less traveled, then you have just arrived at the right place. Welcome to the fold, come on in, the water is lovely!
