OMM Classic rucksacks – running with the Labradors
Boot’s Blog – 04 November 2011
Ever wonder how I keep my coat so shiny? Lunchtime fell running followed by a peat mud bath and a dip in the tarn. It works wonders!
As the days get shorter and the nights draw in, we make it an autumn treat to fit our fell runs in at midday. Taking in the burnt umber of the fells and the orange of the trees is an absolute delight and provides a sanity break from my hard work as shop dog.
Our regular route takes us up the Todd Crag end of Loughrigg Fell, passing Lily Tarn as we work our way back. It’s a great route, not too challenging, but it gets you up in very interesting and varied countryside quickly and had to provide the most easily accessible views in the Lakes. Once you have gained height, the tracks twist and roll passing mini tarns and rocky outcrops. We always stop for a dip in Lily Tarn and munch a biscuit out of Pete’s running bum bag before racing each other down to the Rothay for a drink!
Our range of Original Mountain Marathon running rucksacks and waist pouches are a perfect addition to your fell running kit at this time of year. The OMM Classic lightweight pack (the OMM Classic 25, or the OMM Classic 32) is a good choice for extended trail running/hiking at the weekend, or for anyone looking to train for the OMM marathon next season and get used to running with a pack. To take on shorter training runs or fell races, the OMM Last Drop and the OMM Waist Pouch are just the right size to carry the essentials without holding you back.
Enjoy your winter this season, get out for a run on our great British fells, always remember the dog biscuits and keep an eye out for hungry black Labs:)
See you on the Fell.
