Fell running in the Buff

Very little lunching goes on during our 'lunch breaks' at Head to the Hills when the sun is out and the fells are working their magic over us.

Two days ago I was trotting through knee deep snow on Wandsfell, today I’m skipping along over frosty sheep trails in the sun... I just love the British weather!

The steep climb up to Loughrigg gradually eases as I reach the rolling terrain that will lead me to the summit. This is my favourite part of the run; the Langdales shimmer in the low winter sun and gradually reveal themselves as you approach the top.

The Buff head gear I’m wearing keeps the chill off my ears and the sweat out of my eyes as I tag the trig point and let the brakes off for a fast descent via Lily Tarn - I’m going to be late back if I go this way but it’s such an awesome day that I really don’t care!

The buzz I get from the run sees me through the rest of the day and when I sit down for a brew, rest my legs and close my eyes, remembered images of the fellcosm make me smile... oh happy days.
